Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance
As a MilSpouse, you may have a traditional full or part-time job, you may be a work-from-home or stay-at-home parent, you may spend a lot of time volunteering or catering to the needs of your kids and family. No matter your situation, it’s important to maintain a healthy balance of obligations and fulfilling activities in your life. Here are a few ways to refresh your perspective, take a step back to examine your work-life balance.
Stay on Task
Focus on one task at a time. Prioritize your daily and weekly activities and goals. This will give you a better perspective of what really needs to get done, and those things you’re looking forward to digging into. Make sure you fit one task into your day that you love and will look forward to working on regularly. Incentives like this make it easier to get the obligatory activities out of the way.
Staying on task, knocking out projects as quickly and efficiently as possible, will also reduce stress. Once you get the pressure-inducing tasks out of your way, you’ll have more time to look forward to hanging out with your family, friends and hobbies.
Exercise helps you minimize stress and anxiety. It helps you sleep better. Working out also allows you to maintain physical health and endurance you’ll need with a busy schedule. There are so many benefits to regular exercise. Make sure to make time for a morning jog, trip to the gym or whatever you enjoy doing to get moving!

Things come up. Don’t let unexpected obligations and surprises ruin your day. Need to stay late at work? Computer acting up? Something came up in your spouse’s schedule? Remember that things happen. Be calm and work through them to the best of your ability. Flexibility will keep your stress levels low and may actually open up new opportunities – so be flexible!
